TechSoup Academy is education platform for the non-profit sector, soon to become the new hub for expert-led tech training tailored for non-profits and civil society organizations.

Exactly a year ago, participants from 11 countries from TechSoup Europe network practised together various aspects of webinars production and explored principles of adult education. As a result, TechSoup Italy has launched TechSoup Academy as a proactive response to the increasing demand non-profits have for skill enhancement and digital know-how.

“We became aware of this need by talking to people in the sector who told us repeatedly about the need to learn how technology and digital outreach can facilitate their everyday activities and their overall mission. We learned that it’s not enough to know, it’s crucial to know how-to.” says Emma Togni, TechSoup Italy Marketing Manager.

Free Webinars & In-house Workshops

The TechSoup Academy team initially hosted free hour-long webinars every two weeks, as well as an in-house workshop at TechSoup Italy’s offices at the Cariplo Factory (a co-work and incubator space for digital innovators in the heart of Milan).

These sessions featured experts on topics like web marketing, digital transformation, social media crisis management and fundraising. And the webinars continue today, with weekly sessions which have become a key point of reference for non-profit digital literacy in Italy.  We strive to offer the best, most relevant trainings for NPOs by selecting high-profile teachers who are willing to share their knowledge and experience.

Tailored Courses

TechSoup Academy provides three lines of training activities: webinars, workshops and tailored courses. These tailored courses address the needs of specific non-profit audiences and are undertaken with input from non-profit umbrella organizations, consortiums of cooperatives and foundations.

One successful example of a tailored course is Digital Edu 2018, a free training path designed to help non-profits start an internal process of digital transformation. The path, made up of 6 workshops and 12 webinars, is sponsored by the Cariplo Foundation in three North Italian cities. It is completely free for non-profits who have the chance to learn from top experts in the field.

In all tailored courses, topics are selected based on the specific needs of NPO staff and are also aligned with specific digital tools (such as CRM, data visualisation and analytics platforms, CMS, online advertising and team or project management). More tailor-made courses like the Digital EDU have already been planned and are ready to kick-off across Italy.

What positions TechSoup Academy as the reliable voice within the Third Sector is our effort to listen to NPOs about their needs – especially through our customer service staff – with the aim of providing demand-guided and focused training dedicated to the small to medium, as well as to the largest, non-profits operating in Italy today.
