Meet and Code is back for the 6th year, and we are putting the ‘Meet’ back in Meet and Code.
Calling all NPOs! We are proud to announce that following two years of virtual and hybrid events, we are welcoming back in-person workshops this year! We can’t wait to see the collaboration, community and new friends being made as a result of these events.
NPOs are also welcome to host both virtual and hybrid events. Meet and Code will leave it up to organisers to decide which format suits them best, but now is the time to apply for a grant of up to 500 euro for coding events.
So, what’s different this year?
The aim is to continue to empower young people with digital skills by supporting hundreds of coding events organized by non-profits. This year, Meet and Code needs to restructure the program to ensure its longevity and sustainability and answer the current socio-economic climate.
The 2022 edition will provide grants to eligible NPOs in the following countries: Austria, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom.
The events and workshops will continue to be focused on coding or digital skills for youth and will remain free-of-charge for participants.
How we support the United Nation’s Sustainability Goals, aside from providing quality education
Within Meet and Code, we believe that a changing society and the transition to a green and digital economy require solid digital competencies. Boosting digital skills at all levels helps increase growth and innovation; it builds a fairer, more cohesive, sustainable, and inclusive society. These aspects are all part of the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs).
In 2015, the United Nations Member States adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. The agenda is based on 17 SDGs which recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling the climate change.
In the past editions the events could be aligned to the following SDGs:
- Girls do IT! (SDG 5 – Gender Equality),
- Community (SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities),
- Diversity (SDG 10 – Reduced Inequality),
- Code for the Planet (SDG 13 – Climate Action),
- Code for Europe (SDG 17 – Partnership for the Goals).
This year, we invite NPOs to explore these, and possibly other SDGs, that they would like to find solutions for at their events. You can find the full list here.
Meet and Code remains aligned with the EU Code Week, which takes place between October 8th – October 23rd, 2022.
