TechSoup’s NetSquared program is our way of building self-sustaining support communities for our members. TechSoup Balkans/The Metamorphosis Foundation recently launched their own “NetSquared Balkans” with the initial topic of the “Influence of Technologies in Journalism”.
The NetSquared group was created in support of the annual conference e-Society.mk organised by Metamorphosis Foundation. The goal was to add topics and workshops to the agenda of a conference. Moreover, this meetup saw the presentation of TechSoup Balkans’ offerings for NGOs that wish to receive donated visualization tools, such as Tableau’s tool. The meet-up was attended by 11 media and NGO representatives.
TechSoup Balkans found the NetSquared group valuable because it gives them an informal way to bring their community together outside of the big annual event. Community isn’t created instantly. Rather we need to bring people together over time so that they can form the trust needed to build a lasting relationship.
“We joined the NetSquared team because Metamorphosis Foundation every second Friday organizes open days for NGOs in the scope of TechSoup Balkans, to drive the NGOs during the registration process on the donation program and give them advices about the software that they might need. When we heard about NetSquared, we saw this as a great opportunity to offer NGOs attend every month workshops on different topics and invite experts from different NGOs to share their experiences how they use technology and software to achieve their mission.” – says Adrijana Selmani from Metamorphosis Foundation.
